The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted, proposed by Kenny McCormack and seconded by Stephen Kelly.

Ábhair a bhaineann le/Matters Arising:

Chairman Niall Wheeler welcomed back Monica O’Neill and Vincent Harvey back to the club meetings from their recent absence due to illness. Niall Wheeler and Hugh McIlwaine acted as stewards (representing Oisín CLG) at a recent County football match in Casement Park and have agreed with County Head Steward to assist at future games, preferably if held locally.

The Chairman thanked the Club Maith team for their continued dedication to the application and is confident that the club will be accredited. Monica O’Neill Children’s Officer stressed the importance of designated members attending the Child Protection Course scheduled for Monday 20th February 2012 in St. Patrick’s School. Monica advised of a Cross Community venture between the GAA and Young Farmers earmarked for mid March 2012 in Corrymeela.

Tuarascáil Chontae/County Report:

16th Jan 2012 – The Financial Report was discussed however the two main issues were the suspension of four Rasharkin club members and the proposal to have all matches throughout the County played on designated nights was debated at great length. An alternative proposal by Bord na Óg along similar lines was carried on a vote. Second County Meeting was held on 13th February 2012.

Amateur status and payments to Managers discussion paper was debated. Option 2most favoured i.e. to fully implement the existing policy rules and guidelines on our amateur status with a body set up to police it with the whole ethos of amateurism being upheld. The anticipated completion of works to Casement is the end of 2015. Replacement sought for County Treasurer who resigned. Martin Butler’s transfer was approved and 16 new referees are undergoing training.

Tuarascail Aontroim Thuaidh/North Antrim Report:

Stephen Kelly and Hugh O’Connor attended the NA meeting on 2nd February 2012. The NA Chairman encouraged teams to enter the Feilé skills competitions. Niall Kearney is starting a Coaching and Development committee again and each club has been asked to send a representative.

There will not be a fixtures booklet this year but fixtures can be accessed through the website. There are still a number of officer’s vacancies in the NA committee – PRO, Secretary and Fixtures Secretary. John Robbin explained that if the NA Committee accepted club teams alphabetically, this may create a fairer standard competing.

Oifigeach Caidrimh Phoiblí/PRO:

Michelle asked the secretary to stress the importance of articles for the March Newsletter being made available to her. The secretary explained that Michelle was working very hard behind the scenes with the Club Maith application. The Chairman expressed his thanks and said that Michelle was a great asset to the club.

Coiste na nÓg/Juvenile Committee:

Paddy McIlhatton explained the plan for the Juvenile Presentation taking place on Friday 24th February 2012 in The Laragh Lodge. Loughgiel hurlers Johnny Campbell and Barney McAuley are attending.

Clárú/Costas Registration/Costs:

A meeting was arranged for Wednesday 22nd February 2012 in the clubrooms with Pauline McIntosh Girls Gaelic Football Mentor and the Executive Committee to agree membership/registration fees etc

Tóirse Oilimpeach/Olympic Torch:

The secretary explained that she attended a Moyle District Council meeting in The Mariner’s Bar on 2nd February regarding the Olympic Torch travelling through Waterfoot on Sunday 3rd June 2012. It was explained at the meeting that this was a worldwide event with a chance to show case Glenariffe and requested Oisín CLG participation and that of other groups within the parish. Another meeting is to be held in The Mariners Bar on Tuesday 28th February 2012. The Secretary, Brendan Murray and Vincent Harvey agreed to attend and represent the club.

Comhfhreagras/Correspondence:

The Chairman read the following correspondence: Email from The County Antrim Post newspaper advertising their debut paper to be launched on 6th March 2012 asking for materials from GAA clubs for publication. The County Antrim Post is a weekly tabloid. The Secretary agreed to pass the email to the club’s PRO. The Chairman also read the email from Philip Christie regarding various annual grants scales that are available to clubs. All are retrospective and therefore should be targeted for next year before 24th March 2013.

Gnó ar bith eile/AOB:

The Chairman asked that members support the Scór Sinsir teams on Sunday 26th February in the County Finals in Rasharkin. Discussions took place as where to site the key for the Defibrillator for quicker access.
