Senior League Match Report: Oisíns 3-16 vs Carey 1-08

Senior League: Wednesday 11th April 2012 @ 7.00pm
Half time score: Oisín 2 – 06 Carey 0 – 04
Full time score: Oisín 3 – 16 Carey 1 – 08

Glenariffe Oisín’s welcomed Carey to the first Senior League game of the season.  Seamus Doc was first to add to the score board with a point in the 5th minute of the game.  Oisin’s took a while to settle before they found their rhythm.  Kevin McDonnell had a shot at goal, only to be saved, however Conán McToal  was on hand to tap home the rebound.  Shortly after a great poc out from Seanán McToal was well collected by Carl Healy and with great vision gave a super pin point pass to Kevin McDonnell who finished with a fine point.   Glenariffe Oisín’s ended the first half strong.

Within the first minute of the second half, Dan McKillop  scored his first point of the game, however Carey looked as if they were going to get a goal with a firm strike from within 5 metres of the goal mouth, only to be saved by Seanán McToal.  Carey’s Sean McLoughlin followed with Carey’s first point of the second half.  Thomas Quinn had a great game in mid field as well as Alex McDonnell.  As Oisin’s pulled comfortably ahead they decided to put on a few fresh legs.  3 minutes to go and Eamon Kearns registered his first score in the Senior League.  A fine performance throughout the Oisín’s team and a great start to the opening game of the League.

Oisín:   Seánán McToal, Sean Cosgrove, Mark Nulty, Aaron Cosgrove, Micky Gettens (0-4), Randal Mc Donnell (0-1), Daniel O’Boyle, Carl Healy, Thomas Quinn, Conán McToal (1-1), Dan McKillop (1-1), Seamus Doc McDonnell (0-3), Alex McDonnell (1-2), Seamus McDonnell, Kevin McDonnell (0-1)

Taín League: Oisín vs Ruairí Óg – Sun 4th Mar 2012 Match Report

Venue: McAllister and McVeigh Memorial Park, Glenariffe

Half time score: Oisín 1 – 02 Ruairí Óg 2 – 08
Full time score: Oisín 1 – 06 Ruairí Óg 2 – 16

Glenariffe Oisín’s encountered their neighbours Ruairí Óg’s for their first home game of the season in the Taín League.  There was a great turn out as expected for the local Derby.

A great start to the game with the Oisín’s first out of the block on the score board with Conán McToal narrowly missing the goals by striking the ball of the goal post, only for cousin Kevin McDonnell picking up the rebound and hitting the back of the net.  Conditions were poor underfoot which slowed the game down however, a great performance from Paul McDonnell who unfortunately had to go off just before half time due to an injury.

Unfortunately Oisín’s didn’t start the second half with the same determination as they finished the first half.  However, in the last 10 minutes the Oisin’s started getting back into the game with Randal McDonnell and Connor Kerr both adding to the score board.  Both had a great game along with Seánán McToal who had some very impressive saves throughout the game.

Oisin’s can only build on this game – a great experience though for the younger players fielded today with a special mention to Sean Cosgrove and Rory O’Connor who showed well.

Oisín:   Seánán McToal, Sean Cosgrove, Chris Sheppard, Aaron Cosgrove, Micky Gettens, Conán McToal, Connor Kerr, Randal McDonnell, Carl Healy, Dan McKillop, Rory O’Connor, Randal McDonnell (0-03), Daniel O’Boyle, Paul McDonnell, Carl Healy, Seamus McDonnell (Doc), Connor Kerr, Johnny Mcintosh, Conán McToal, Alex McDonnell, Kevin McDonnell (1-0) Subs: Norris Murray for Paul McDonnell, Niall Leech for Sean Cosgrove, Thomas Quinn for Carl Healy, Rory O’Connor for Conán McToal, Seamus McDonnell for Johnny McIntosh, Niall Murray.
