Final Score: St. Galls (2,10) Oisíns (1,13)
What a hard fought game for the Oisíns, travelling to De La Salle Park Milltown with both of these teams knowing the importance of collecting league points at this early stage in the season, it was a tough encounter indeed!
Oisíns tally in the first half was (2, 4) with Alex McDonnell scoring both of the goals and Conor Kerr, Johnny McIntosh and Mickey Gettens taking care of the points with young Tom Quinn contributing. St. Galls (1,8) with Niall Burke at short range, in the first 11 minutes scoring their first half goal and the points scored by Niall, Jackson McGreevey, Ciaran Gallagher and Karl Stewart. The referee was kept busy showing yellow cards to both teams. Everyone was glad to see the break.
The battle continued in the second half with each team wiping out the other’s score. It was ‘nip and tuck’ throughout. Oisíns wing three quarters player saw the line with ten minutes still remaining having received two yellows from the referee making the game very difficult for the Glensmen. However The Oisíns held their own and were very unlucky not to have collected two points at the whistle putting a free narrowly wide from an acute angle in the last couple of minutes.
