Covid 19 – Urgent Advice From Antrim GAA
A public statement was issued yesterday on behalf of Antrim GAA Chairperson Ciarán McCavana about the pandemic of Covid 19 and associated Public Health guidance. The current situation is unprecedented in our lifetime.
Although there is much still which is unknown, Public Health experts are agreed on the need for ‘social distancing’ protocols to be implemented. Social gatherings are being discouraged. Schools and colleges and childcare facilities are being closed for a period of time.
As members of Cumann Luthchleas Gael, we take our civic duties seriously. We owe it to our players, coaches, volunteers, families and wider community to take care of one another as best we can. That especially relates to those in our communities who are most at risk from infection by Covid 19.
Therefore, Antrim GAA is advising all clubs to suspend activities, including team practice, meetings and social events from Friday 13th March 2020 until further notice is provided. In order to assist, Antrim GAA is suspending all senior and underage fixtures until further notice. Regular communication updates will issue through clubs for the attention of all members over the coming days.
