In 2016, the GAA plans to celebrate the importance of our club in our community.
Lá na gClubanna will take place on Sunday, 8th May, 2016.

Counties have been asked to keep the morning and afternoon fixture free to enable all members to fully participate in this event.
Further details will be published here when known.

Codes of Conduct

The Codes of Conduct have been revised to take account of the simple rules that were put forward by the Chairman and adopted at the last general meeting. The revised document can be viewed in the downloadable forms section of the Club Info page.

Referees Required

The club are seeking volunteers to undergo training and become referees. Both Mal and Gerard have a combined age of 121 years – no prizes for guessing who is the oldest ! But seriously both will not last forever and at some stage the club will need to supply at least one referee or suffer the sanctions of a £400 fine and having no matches at Senior level played at McAllister and McVeigh Park.

The next training event is on 8 February 2016 and any volunteers can accompany Mal and Gerard on the day.

Please e mail or call the secretary at secretary.oisins.antrim@gaa.ie / 07751968825 if you are interested in becoming one of the club’s referees.

Spring Cow Clap Challenge and Family Fun Day

Oisin CLG Cow Clap Challenge and Family Fun Day
Early this coming Spring (shortly after Easter) a well fed and watered cow (yes a real cow !) named Mrs Dairy Luck will be released on to our pitch at McAllister and McVeigh Memorial Park in Glenariffe. Before Mrs Dairy Luck is let loose 2,500 virtual squares will be randomly numbered per the actual square numbers shown on the tickets sold and then electronically marked out on a computer generated grid map to create a “virtual field” with exactly the same dimensions as the entire real field (excluding the goal areas which will be fenced off) that is contained within the fenced area at the hurling pitch. Each virtual square will be 2.187m x 2.187m.
Mrs Dairy Luck will then be let loose to wander about the real field until she does her “business”. Once the exact position of her “business” on the real field has been carefully measured by our experienced clap patrol it will be plotted on to the “virtual field” on the computer! Wherever the cow has “clapped”,the owner of that square will receive the top prize of £1000 with the owners of the 8 adjoining squares winning £50 each.
Please support the club’s Cow Clap Challenge by buying a ticket, Cow Clap Challenge tickets are £5 each.
Tickets are on sale in Costcutters,The Mariners Bar and The Saffron Bar in Waterfoot and in Duck’s Corner House,Cushendall, and also from individual club members. If you have not been approached yet to buy a ticket please feel free to approach any committee member ,or contact us via this website or Facebook and we will be in touch.Alternatively you can visit any of the above retail outlets/local bars to purchase your square(s) before the big day.Any unsold squares will be available for purchase on the day but we aim to have all squares sold before Mrs Dairy Luck is let loose.
A full day of entertainment is also planned for all of the family, including hurling skills competitions, a Treasure Hunt and many more fun activities. We will publish full details nearer the time via our Facebook,Twitter and Website pages.
The Finance Committee will be actively checking the weather forecasts for the period immediately before and after Easter and once a suitable weather window is identified we will publish the extact date and time of the Cow Challenge and Family Fun Day.It will be on a Saturday or a Sunday to ensure the maximum opportunity for as many families to attend and join in the fun.
All money raised from our Cow Clap Challenge Family Fun Day will go towards club funds.
The committee extend their grateful thanks to the pupils and staff of St Patrick’s Primary School for the art competition which provided the artwork and the cow names for the tickets and posters which have been used to publicise this event. In particular, congratulations go to Niall Magee, the overall winner of the competition, and to the runners up, Oran Mc Lintock,Canice Mc Intosh and Alexander Fyfe.Well done to all!
